More than a jam session: Let’s make music together
At London Hott Radio, we believe that music is about more than what happens on a stage. It is also about creativity, collaboration, discovering new talent and bringing people together through a shared passion.
That is why we’re highlighting Jam Sessions with Al Desmond, a regular gathering designed to give musicians and vocalists an opportunity to come together, share their musical interests and connect with other creatives.
Whether you play an instrument, sing, write songs or simply want to meet people involved in music, we want to encourage you to explore the possibilities of taking part.
Our aim is to create an environment where people can meet through music, exchange ideas and potentially develop new creative relationships. You do not need to arrive with a finished song or a complete band to start a conversation about making music.
Every musician has a different journey. Some are building confidence, others are developing their sound, and some are looking for people with whom they can create something new. A regular meeting place can help bring these different experiences together.
What happens on Monday evenings?
We have structured the evening into two parts, combining time for music with an opportunity to socialise and get to know other attendees.
6pm–9pm: Jam sessions
From 6pm until 9pm, the focus is on making music.
We’re inviting you to bring your musical instruments or your voice and join the session. This is an opportunity to meet other musicians, explore musical ideas and experience the creative energy that comes from playing alongside others.
Whether you are a singer looking for musicians, an instrumentalist interested in collaborating or a songwriter hoping to meet like-minded people, the session offers a starting point for making connections.
We have not announced a fixed musical genre or set repertoire, so we encourage you to contact us beforehand if you have specific musical requirements or questions about the available facilities.
Our goal is to bring people together around a common interest in music and give them the opportunity to discover what they can create collectively.
9pm–10pm: Social Q&A and interaction
From 9pm, we move from the jam sessions into an hour dedicated to social interaction, questions and getting to know one another.
We recognise that building a creative network can be just as important as developing musical skills. Meeting other artists can lead to conversations about songwriting, performance, recording, creative projects and future collaborations.
This part of the evening gives attendees time to talk, share experiences and learn more about the people around them.
The exact discussion format and any scheduled contributors have not yet been confirmed, so please contact us if you would like further information about the Q&A session.
Could your jam session be live-streamed on London Hott Radio?!
One of the questions we’re asking is:
Will YOUR jam session be live-streamed on www.londonhottradio.co.uk?!
We’re interested in exploring the connection between live music-making and online broadcasting. Live-streaming can offer a way for audiences who are unable to attend in person to discover performances and experience music as it happens.
For participating musicians, the possibility of being featured could provide an additional platform for sharing their musical abilities with a wider audience.
However, we want to be clear about what is and is not confirmed. Live-streaming is an advertised possibility, not a guarantee that every jam session will be broadcast. Availability, scheduling, participant selection and any recording or distribution arrangements must be confirmed with our team.
If you are interested in having your session considered, please get in touch with us before attending so that we can discuss the available arrangements.
An opportunity to take your music into the studio
We’re also highlighting an opportunity for participants to record a song at our music studio at a professional level.
For independent artists, moving from an idea to a recorded song can be an important step in developing a musical project. A studio environment can help artists work on their performances and explore how their music might sound as a finished recording.
Our website provides information about our studio-related services, including recording, rehearsal and production facilities. We encourage anyone interested in recording to speak to us about the options available.
We also want to make one important point clear: the specific terms of the recording opportunity associated with these jam sessions have not been published in full. Please contact us to confirm availability, pricing, session duration, production support and any other conditions before making arrangements.
A studio recording opportunity should not be confused with a guaranteed commercial release, a record deal or automatic radio airplay. Our intention is to give interested artists a way to explore the possibilities and establish what is suitable for their needs.
Why we’re encouraging musicians to connect
Independent music-making often involves finding the right people, sharing ideas, learning from experience and creating opportunities through collaboration.
We see these sessions as a chance to bring some of those elements together in one place.
A singer may meet an instrumentalist. A songwriter may find someone who approaches music from a different perspective. An experienced musician may exchange ideas with someone just beginning their journey. These are possibilities rather than promised outcomes, but they illustrate why shared creative spaces can be valuable.
We also recognise that not everyone attends a music event with the same ambition. Some people may be looking to develop their skills, others may want to find collaborators, and some may simply enjoy spending time with people who share their interest in music.
By including a dedicated social hour, we want to make room for those conversations as well as the playing.
The success of a community event ultimately depends on the people who participate and the relationships they build. We look forward to seeing how the sessions develop as musicians come together.
Who can get involved?
We’re inviting a range of people with an interest in music, including:
- Singers and vocalists who want to explore performing with other musicians.
- Instrumentalists who enjoy playing with others and experimenting with musical ideas.
- Songwriters and independent artists looking to meet potential collaborators.
- Emerging musicians who want to gain experience in a shared musical environment.
- Established musicians interested in meeting other creatives and exploring new projects.
- Music enthusiasts who want to connect with people involved in the local music scene.
We have not published a complete admission policy, specific experience requirements or a list of supported genres. If you have questions about participation, equipment or access to the venue, please contact us before making your journey.

Our invitation to South London’s music community
At London Hott Radio, we want to encourage people to discover opportunities to make music, meet fellow creatives and explore the possibilities of working together.
Jam Sessions with Al Desmond brings together three important elements of that process: playing music, building connections and exploring recording opportunities.
We cannot promise that every visit will lead to a collaboration, a recording or a broadcast. What we can do is share the invitation, explain the advertised opportunities clearly and encourage interested musicians to find out more.
So, if you have an instrument you have been meaning to play, a song you would like to develop, a voice you want to share or simply an interest in meeting other musicians, why not get in touch?
Bring your instrument. Bring your voice. Come and meet the music community.
