EXCLUSIVE: Why South Jamaica Queens Phenom ‘Qui The Last Word’ is Bringing the Motown-Era Energy Back to the Streets
By London Hot Radio Staff http://www.londonhottradio.co.uk Every few decades, an artist arrives who doesn’t just fit into the music industry; they shatter its expectations. If you’ve been tuned into the underground buzz or tearing up the dancefloor lately, you already know the name echoing from New York to London: Qui The Last Word.

Gifted like most but standing in a category entirely of his own, Qui isn’t just a musician—he’s a phenomenon. Music executives and fans alike are whispering about a raw, magnetic stage presence and an energy force that has not been measured since the legendary Motown days. He is an artist destined to surpass all odds.
With a string of underground hits, Qui has captured the global radar. His track “Destiny” is a masterclass in songwriting, leaving fans and followers utterly astonished with every play. But if you want to see a crowd completely lose its mind, you wait for “Hands Up” and “Slide”—two heavy-hitting party anthems engineered to keep people dancing all night long.

Music in the Blood: The Jackson Legacy
Born Troy Jackson under the emotional and intuitive sign of Cancer, Qui didn’t choose music; music chose him. Culturally rooted in his blood, both of his parents shared the iconic last name Jackson. As Queens natives, they were heavily involved in the male and female vocal groups of the 1970s.
Raised in South Jamaica Queens as the youngest of four boys, Qui’s initial path to greatness seemed to lie on the hardwood. He was a standout basketball player from the fifth grade all the way into high school. But fate had other plans. In the 11th grade, the calling of the studio became too loud to ignore. Qui walked away from the court to dedicate his life to the microphone, joining the highly popular local rhyming group UNC.
Recognizing early on that talent needs structure, Qui and a close friend founded their own entertainment imprint, F.A.M.E Ent. (Focus Artist Maintaining Excellence)—a manifesto that he still lives by today.

Paying Dues and Overcoming Tragedy
Determined to break into the ruthless music business from the ground up, Qui interned for the legendary Def Jam Recordings between 1996 and 1997. As part of their relentless street promotion team, he was on the front lines of hip-hop history. Back then, the streets were already warning the heavyweights: “Watch out Jay-Z, he’s coming.”
By 2001, Qui released his first full solo track, “Top Notch.” But just as his momentum was building, tragedy struck. On September 11, 2011, the world changed forever. For Qui, the tragedy was deeply personal. His brother, a brave firefighter serving Brooklyn’s elite Squad 252, tragically lost his life while saving others at the World Trade Center.
Heartbroken, Qui put the music on pause. The silence was necessary, but true greatness cannot be suppressed for long.
The Comeback and the ‘Qui Rush’
In 2003, Qui made his roaring comeback to the mixtape circuit with his group, the Industry Free Agents. He followed it up in 2004 with the critically acclaimed solo mixtape “Walk of Fame.” Proving his versatility extends far beyond standard club tracks, Qui collaborated with the educational vocal group Defined Minds in 2006-2007. He recorded “Move It,” a track designed for an innovative SAT-prep book and CD package. The unique crossover caught the attention of the mainstream media, with CBS Channel 2 News filming him live during an intense recording session.
By 2008, the industry witnessed the official launch of the “Qui Rush.” What followed was an era of non-stop, high-octane performances, showcases, and regional tours. Qui tore down stages across North Carolina, Maryland, and every major venue in New York City—from Club Amazura and Karma to the prestigious Times Square Arts Center. His undeniable charisma even caught the attention of high-profile politicians, leading him to perform at several major political functions.
Non-Stop Exposure and Magic
The industry officially took notice of his commercial viability in 2010 when he signed a management deal with ETL Entertainment Management and Productions LLC. Since joining forces with ETL, Qui’s career has been an unstoppable trajectory of exposure, growth, and pure musical magic.
From the concrete courts of South Jamaica Queens to the airwaves of London, Qui The Last Word is proving that real talent, forged in pain and fueled by an undeniable legacy, cannot be stopped. He represents the true meaning of an artist.
Stay tuned to London Hot Radio as we continue to track the meteoric rise of New York’s finest. Qui is here, and he is absolutely having the last word.
